15th June 2014
Windsurfing: Felixstowe Dip
Wind Direction: NNE
Wind Stength: F3/4
Surf / Sea State: Moderate
Air Temperature: cool
Sea Temperature: OK
Weather: cloudy
Max Speed: 21.72 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 6.39 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

The Felixstowe docks wind gauges reached 10kts by 1.00pm so desperation to sail forced the trip Colsey confirmed he was going also desperate!
3 out when arrived 1 longbd 2 short but the wind was still offish and not enough, as 2 packed up thesea was lumpy, at high tide so the long wait and beach chat with 6 or so waiting.
The wind suddenly filled and went cross so scramble to rig, oh why did I not do that earlier! Missed 30 minutes of a 45 mins or so session. Rigged 8.5 x 146L Colsey on formula was planning all the time. Sea was very lumpy near the buoys out to sea, and at times went overpowered with not much wind on the inside. Found myself going out too far, but riding waves coming in was great, and headed up on the fin, towards kite zone on the shifts with tide going out.
Sea levelled up but the wind started easing and wasn't sure if it would switch directions again so quit.
Maker had a run and poor old Squiz rigged but missed it as did Swainey. As we packed up the wind filled in again a little, but I had my fix so happy. Poxy Steam / sauna packed up at the spa, so only pool to chill for the rest of fathers day, nice...
The new North shoxs ride is smoother than the old one, and don't bottom out much. Unlike last session, I downhauled the 8.7 H2 to Max with 3 clicks on the ratchet in the gusty conditions and it handled much better, rotating much easier in the light winds. That's so much easier than undoing the downhaul!
One busted batten and now 3 large holes means repairs now required. Pryde's 2011 sail quality is crap! The monofilm is really crispy.
